This week's must-have is more of a must-do. Those little registration postcards that come with most of the big baby gear are more than just a suggestion. In my world, it's imperative that you always fill them out and send them back in.

It's easy to do. Just fill out your name and address -- the product information is already printed on the card. Don't worry, they aren't going to sell your information or start sending you loads of junk mail (that's against the law!). You don't even need to put a stamp on the card because the postage is already paid. It really couldn't be easier so you have no excuse for not doing it.

That little registration card will keep your information on file with the manufacturer so that if there is ever a recall or a problem with the product, you'll be the first to know. You'd hate to have a product that is deemed dangerous later and not know about it.

While you should always send in the registration card for any baby product, because of historical recalls and huge potential for babies to get injured, I insist that you do it for these products:

  • Baby carriers
  • Bassinets
  • Car seats
  • Changing tables
  • Cribs
  • High chairs
  • Play yards
  • Strollers
  • Swings

So, let's all fill out those little cards and keep our babies as safe as possible.
