Save those cans and turn them into fun can stilts for the kids. With a few simple items, this kids' craft is perfect for a summer afternoon, with the added bonus of getting your kids outside after they're made.

What you'll need:

  • Two (15-ounce) cans, emptied and washed
  • Ribbon
  • Craft paint
  • Paint brushes
  • Drill or large nail

Begin by washing and drying your cans. Next, let your little artist get creative by painting both cans. Allow cans to dry completely before moving on to the next step.

After the cans have dried, make a small mark near the top of each can on each side. Make sure the marks are directly across from each other. Using either a drill or nail, make a hole at each mark to allow for the ribbon to be pulled through.

Next, measure out the ribbon by having your child hold onto one end and loop the length around their foot. Use the first piece of ribbon as your guide for the second piece so that you end up with two pieces of ribbon that are exactly the same length.

Thread a piece of ribbon through both holes in one of the cans. Bring the ends together and tie a double knot to secure the ribbon into a loop.
