I’m five days away from Day 30 of my weight-loss challenge, and a lot is going through my head right now… aside from visions of cupcakes. Kidding!

What a trip

Actually, I'm thinking about how this month has flown by and how grateful I am that I was able to take part in such a fun challenge — and to have an amazing format in which to share my journey. The support I've received from family, friends and even strangers has been truly overwhelming.

I'm also thinking about the sandy beach where I'll be laying in just another month… in a very tiny bikini, thank you very much. (Yes, my after picture is coming, folks, but I've got a few more days to go!)

I'm also thinking about a pair of white capris I used to wear in college. Now, why would I be thinking of those, you ask? Because I still own them. They are nothing special — a casual pair of capris from Express. But they are a size 2. And they had been tucked waaaaaayyy down in a bottom drawer for a while now. I pulled those babies out a few days ago, dusted them off and… slid, them, on. Oh, yeah. You know how they say that nothing tastes as good as thin feels? I'm feeling that!

I'm also thinking about what happens next. In five days, I'll be on my own! I've had the pressure of this challenge looming over me for, well, almost a month now. So here's my plan: I've already requested that the Hubs take me out for a serious chow down session at my favorite Mexican food restaurant. Following that, we'll get some frozen yogurt. For the record, my favorite frozen yogurt shop carries all those fancy non-fat, gluten-free, dairy-free and sugar-free varieties so that's not even really cheating, if you ask me. But it does kind of make me wonder what actually is in that stuff. That's beside the point.

The next step

What I'm getting at is after my big yummy cheat-fest, I'm going to get up the next day, do my workout and enjoy a healthy protein shake — because that's my new reality. I've come to love this new lifestyle, and I don't miss my old bad habits (besides the Mexican food one, but cut me some slack!).

I urge you to continue on my journey with me for a few more days. My final post runs later this week with invaluable tips on how to maintain momentum for weight loss once a challenge comes to an end.
