Trying to lose weight? Make your life easier and use these best weight loss apps. They will help you track everything from calorie intake to water consumption and daily exercise times. It's a great way to see your progress and stay motivated as you work to shed the pounds.

Calorie Counter & Diet Tracker

Calorie Counter & Diet TrackerFor those of you who are starting your weight loss program off with counting calories, the Calorie Counter & Diet Tracker app by MyFitnessPal is just what you need. With over 3 million foods and 350 exercises, it's easy to keep track of calories consumed and burned throughout the day. The app also tracks other major nutrients, allows you to set goals and gives reports of progress.

I really like that you can connect with friends through the app for additional motivation. When struggling to lose weight, this is often very important. Overall, it's a great weight loss app and easy to use.

Diet and Weight Loss Tracker

Diet and Weight Loss TrackerDiet and Weight Loss Tracker by Calorie Count is another weight loss app that helps you track calories, water intake, activities and weight loss each day. Some key features include the ability to log foods by voice rather than typing them in, a barcode scanner and nutritional grades for foods.

This app doesn't have nutritional information for as many foods as other calorie counting apps but the logging by voice feature is really nice as a time-saving tool.

Fooducate appThe supermarket can be a very confusing place for those who want to make better food choices. Rather than trying to navigate through the marketing hype and health claims on labels, let the Fooducate apps help you. These apps have nutritional grades and pros and cons for foods along with tips for healthier alternatives. Foods and exercise can also be tracked with these apps.

There are a variety of apps from Fooducate ranging from the free weight loss and diet tracker app to a gluten and allergy food tracker. I really like that this app focuses on educating about ingredients and focuses on eating real foods. For me, that makes this not only a great weight loss app but a handy tool for everyone looking to eat healthier.

My Diet Coach

My Diet Coach appNot giving in to temptation when trying to lose weight is a big challenge. It takes serious commitment and willpower. And that's exactly where the My Diet Coach app comes in handy. Designed only for women, this weight loss app provides motivation, reminders and goal notifications. With the pro version, there's also a panic button you can push if the food cravings are becoming too hard to resist.

The app is a little too cartoony for me but it is a great app for those who need extra motivation for the mental part of weight loss.

Nexercise appLosing weight isn't just about changing your eating habits. It also involves physical activity to burn calories. The idea behind the Nexercise app is that exercise doesn't have to boring, rather it can be fun and rewarding. So, this fitness tracker app allows users to track various physical activities, including housework. Each activity earns points that can be traded in for real rewards, typically coupons from various businesses.

This app is also community based so you can compare your results with friends and connect with others for motivation. For those who are motivated by the reward system, this is the perfect app to get you moving.

Happy Scale

Happy Scale appIf you don't want (or need) a calorie counter app and instead just want to track your weight loss progress, the Happy Scale weight loss tracker app is for you. Add your weight loss goal and decide how many short-term milestones you want to get there and let the app help you keep track of the rest.

I like that this app creates a smooth weight trend line for weight loss. Visually, this is helpful for motivation because it smooths out those natural ups and downs that occur when we step on the scale. It's a pretty basic app but it accomplishes its goal of tracking scale readings. You just have to remember to add those scale readings, even if you don't like what they say.
