Peplum tops are in and they are great for every body shape... especially moms who will love hiding that left-over baby belly under the flare of the peplum! Here are some cute ones to try, including how to wear them with pieces you already have in your closet.

Peplum tops are the hottest trend this season. If you are perplexed how to pull off peplum, we can help.

Who can wear peplum tops?

Peplum tops are perfect for moms who are trying to hide their mid-section. "Peplum tops are amazing for almost every body type," says stylist Lindsi Lane.

The great thing about peplum tops is that they help us cheat a little and hide unwanted belly bulge.

When buying peplum tops, look for those that are cut longer as they are more forgiving than those that are cut shorter. "The great thing about peplum tops is that they help us cheat a little and hide unwanted belly bulge, making them the perfect closet staple for those days when we [are] feeling on the heavier side," Lane says.

Who should avoid this type of look? "If you are trying to minimize your hips, I suggested staying away from this particular cut," she says.

Casual peplum

"I would recommend wearing something fitted on the bottom to balance out the proportions," says Mainstream Boutique founder and CEO Marie DeNicola, who recommends dressing down a peplum top with skinny jeans.

Lane agrees, saying these top types can be worn many different ways. "To dress it down, try pairing it with leggings or jeggings," she says. "Zara.com offers a wide array [and are] affordable on any budget."

One great option is this Printed Peplum Top by Pim + Larkin (Piperlime, $60). This fun print is on-trend, while the cap sleeves and the longer cut of the peplum make this a perfect choice for new (and not-so-new!) moms. Pair this with skinny jeans and you are ready for your close-up!

A peplum made of a soft, flowing material, such as this teal colored Embellished Peplum Blouse ($70, Piperlime) is even more forgiving and can be dressed down with jeans or pants — or dressed up for work.

A peplum top paired with shorts is a perfect look for summer! Pair the above mentioned printed peplum top with denim shorts and sandals for a casual look — or more tailored shorts and booties for a dressed up look.

Posh peplum

Peplum tops are perfect for work or other dressed up events. "To dress up a peplum top, I would recommend wearing it with a pencil skirt or another type of fitted skirt," says DeNicola.

This gorgeous scarlet Peplum Hem Sweater ($60, Ann Taylor) gives a sophisticated look when paired with a pencil skirt, such as this chic printed skirt. Belting your peplum top with a skinny belt is a fun and easy way to accessorize your look.

Pairing a peplum top with pants instantly gives you a feminine and sophisticated air. This gorgeous raspberry Alice + Olivia Belted Peplum Top is a splurge at Nordstrom, but any of your favorite peplum tops would have the same look when paired with your straight leg trousers.

Lastly, give your feminine peplum top an edge by pairing it with a leather skirt. Pictured is the Lipzy Peplum Top with Embellished Shoulder ($62) from ASOS.
