One of my favorite things about the fall season is being able to wear boots. Tall boots, ankle boots, rain boots... boots are an essential part of your fall wardrobe and these four boot styles are tops this season.

Don't get me wrong, I love summer and sandals but there's something about pulling on a pair of knee-high boots with a pair of skinny jeans and a comfy sweater that makes you feel so stylish. Perhaps it's the fact that you don't really need to maintain your pedicure quite as frequently when you're wearing open-toed shoes or it could be the fact that there are so many options when it comes to choosing a pair of boots. They range from thigh-high to ankle and come as simple or as fancy as you want. Boots are also so versatile that they look good with everything from jeans to sheath dresses and can easily be dressed up or down. Here's a look at four boot styles that are on trend for the fall season and how to wear them best.

Riding boots

If you're a busy mom and chasing after tots all day is in your job description, then these boots are for you. Riding boots, also known as equestrian-style boots, have a flat heel and usually hit just below your knee. Ranging from simple to embellished with buckles, the riding boot is so versatile that you can easily wear it with skinny jeans tucked into the boots or with a tweed pencil skirt and blazer. They are super comfortable to wear all day and usually come in black, dark brown, gray and tan colors. If there is one boot you get this fall season, this would be the one to get as this style is timeless.

Motorcycle boots

Motorcycle boots are giving moms the rock 'n' roll look this season. Definitely more edgy than sweet, motorcycle boots go up to your mid-to-lower calf and are usually embellished with studs and buckles. They can be flat, have laces and have just a tiny heel. More casual than dressy, the motorcycle boot looks best with skinny jeans but if you're definitely a fan of the rock 'n' roll trend, try them with a pair of camo pants or dressy shorts.

Ankle booties

This type of boot is the one that most women have trouble deciding how to wear, when in reality, they are very versatile. If you choose a flat bootie style, it's best to wear them with skinny jeans. Most skinny jeans will tuck nicely into the boot and stay the whole day. If you are wearing an ankle boot with a heel, you can also pair them with skinny jeans but additionally, they look fabulous with dresses and skirts when worn with tights. The tights paired with the booties will help elongate your legs giving you an overall slimming effect.

Leopard-printed boots

If you're really into following the season's trends, then the leopard-printed boot is right up your alley. Perfect paired with monochromatic outfits like a black sheath dress, a pair of leopard print boots will make sure that your outfit doesn't fit into the "boring" category. These boots can also spice up an everyday outfit like skinny jeans and a graphic tee, taking a casual outfit up a style level. Just be careful not to mix these shoes with a printed jean or boldly-printed top, as it may be too much print and trend in one outfit.
