These adorable little slider cupcakes are actually rather simple to make and will be the hit of your Memorial Day party! They just take a bit of time to make, and you can even use boxed cake mix if you are short on time. They are guaranteed to make people smile.

Make a batch of these adorable cupcakes and watch the smiles! Who doesn't love a cupcake? And these are anything but boring.

ketchup and mustard bottles

  • Yellow cake mix (box or favorite recipe)
  • Chocolate cake mix (box or favorite recipe)
  • Sesame seeds
  • Corn syrup
  • White frosting
  • Food coloring (yellow, red and green)
  • Sweetened shredded coconut

  1. Prepare yellow cake mix (or homemade recipe) and bake as cupcakes, but don’t use cupcake wrappers. Be careful not to overcook them since you don’t want them too browned. This will be the bun for your sliders.
  2. Prepare chocolate cake mix (or homemade recipe) and bake as above. This will be the burger patty.
  3. Mix shredded coconut with green food coloring in a bowl and set aside. This will be your lettuce.
  4. Mix some white frosting with yellow food coloring for mustard.
  5. Mix some white frosting with red food coloring for ketchup.
  6. Leave some white frosting white for mayonnaise.
  7. Slice domed top from chocolate cupcakes, and then slice into 2-3 burger patties per cupcake.
  8. Slice domed top from yellow cupcakes to use as top bun, and then save bottom part of cupcake for the bottom bun.
  9. Begin to assemble your sliders, experimenting with various frosting tips or just using a knife to spread condiments.
  10. Add the shredded coconut for lettuce, and then add the top bun.
  11. Brush some corn syrup lightly over the top bun and sprinkle with a few sesame seeds.
