With school starting again, the mornings can be a little hectic to say the least. Don't let that stop you from feeding the kids and yourself something healthy in the morning. These three breakfast smoothie recipes are loaded with fruit, oats, yogurt and top superfoods to start the day off right. After all, breakfast is the most important meal of the day.

Some mornings, there just isn't enough time to make a healthy breakfast for the kids. Rather than giving them a bowl of sugar-filled cereal or a package of Pop-Tarts, whip up one of these breakfast smoothies. Not only are they deliciously kid friendly, they are also full of healthy foods. It's the perfect way to start a busy day!

Peaches and cream smoothie

Serves 1 to 2

The traditional peaches and cream breakfast gets a remake in this breakfast smoothie recipe. Frozen peaches provide vitamin A and potassium while rolled oats add fiber for lasting energy. Blend it with homemade almond milk and it's one drink the kids won't put down until the glass is empty.

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup organic frozen peaches
  • 1 banana
  • 1/4 cup old-fashioned rolled oats
  • 1 tablespoon flax seeds
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Almond milk

Directions: 

  1. Combine all of the ingredients in a blender.
  2. Blend to desired consistency, adding more almond milk as needed.
  3. Pour into a glass and enjoy!

Greek yogurt is a popular addition to smoothies — and for good reason. It's high in protein, a good source of calcium and contains probiotic cultures. Plus, it will keep the little ones feeling full until lunchtime (or at least snack time). Paired with mixed berries, it's one sweet treat you can't beat in the morning.

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup organic mixed frozen berries
  • 1 banana
  • 1/4 cup Greek yogurt
  • 1 tablespoon chia seeds
  • 1 teaspoon local honey
  • Almond milk

Directions:

  1. Combine all of the ingredients in a blender.
  2. Blend to desired consistency, adding more almond milk as needed.
  3. Pour into a glass and enjoy!

Orange mango smoothie

Serves 1 to 2 

Orange, mango, banana, oh my! This bright breakfast smoothie is full of vitamins A and C to keep the body healthy. Add in a couple of tablespoons of hempseeds for protein and coconut water for potassium and electrolytes and your breakfast smoothie is ready to go!

Ingredients: 

  • 1 cup organic frozen mango chunks
  • 1 banana
  • 1 orange, peeled
  • 2 tablespoons hempseeds
  • Coconut water

Directions: 

  1. Combine all of the ingredients in a blender.
  2. Blend to desired consistency, adding more coconut water as needed.
  3. Pour into a glass and enjoy!
