Love you long time cocktail

Champagne and sparkling wine have a longstanding history as the drink of choice on Valentine's Day. While there's nothing wrong with popping the cork on a bottle of bubbly, we think that the love of your life should have something a little more special to drink. Using a batch-distilled gin, such as Martin Miller's, Tanqueray Ten or Aviation, along with fresh-squeezed blood orange juice and Cava (Spanish sparkling wine), this blood orange cocktail is one drink that really lives up to its name. They are perfect as aperitifs, or before-dinner drinks.

  • 2 ounces batch-distilled gin
  • 2 ounces fresh-squeezed blood orange juice (should equal 1 blood orange)
  • Cava Brut (I used Jaume Serra Cristalino Brut)
  • Lemon twists for garnish

  1. Pour 1 ounce of the gin and blood orange juice into each Champagne flute.
  2. Top with Cava and garnish with a lemon twist, first twisting over the glass to extract the essential oils. Enjoy!

Hanky Panky cocktail

Created by Ada Coleman, head bartender at the American Bar in The Savoy Hotel in 1925, the Hanky Panky cocktail is perfect for serving to your loved one on Valentine's Day — and not just because of its suggestive name. The two dashes of Fernet Branca are essential for the drink so make sure you don't leave those out. Serve this classic cocktail and enjoy whatever might happen after the glasses are empty...

  • 1-1/2 ounces London Dry Gin
  • 1-1/2 ounces sweet vermouth
  • 2 dashes Fernet Branca
  • Orange twist for garnish

  1. Pour the gin, vermouth and Fernet Branca into a mixing glass filled with ice.
  2. Stir and strain into a chilled cocktail glass.
  3. Garnish with the orange twist, first twisting it over the glass to extract the essential oils. Enjoy!

Seductive strawberry cocktail

Strawberries and Champagne are a classic pairing for Valentine's Day. While there's nothing wrong with that, we prefer to mix things up a bit. So, that's exactly what we did with this strawberry bourbon cocktail that both men and women will enjoy. It's deceptively strong and has a beautiful color that makes it perfect for a Valentine's Day cocktail.

  • 2 organic strawberries
  • 1/2 ounce fresh-squeezed lemon juice
  • 1-1/2 ounces Kentucky straight bourbon (I used Four Roses Yellow)
  • 1/2 ounce Bénédictine liqueur
  • 1 barspoon simple syrup to taste
  • Organic strawberry for garnish

  1. In a cocktail shaker, muddle the strawberries, lemon juice and simple syrup.
  2. Add bourbon and Bénédictine liqueur with ice.
  3. Shake and strain into a chilled cocktail glass.
  4. Garnish with an organic strawberry and enjoy!
