  1. First, pour your sugar into a small bowl. You can also replace some of your sugar with cinnamon, pumpkin spice or cocoa powder should you choose, so long as you have a 2 to 1 ratio of sugar to your extra ingredient.
  2. Then, add the water to your sugar 1/8 teaspoon at a time, mixing well as you go. You want to end up with sugar that is just wet enough to stick together to form shapes; add too little water and it won't stay together and add too much water and it won't dry. Don't be afraid to add more water or more sugar to balance it out!
  3. Next, use a round 1/2 teaspoon measuring spoon to scoop up your wet sugar mixture, packing it firmly in the spoon.
  4. Now, tap your spoon upside down onto a parchment paper-lined cookie sheet to release your half-sphere sugar shape. You can also use a small candy mold to make just about any shape you'd like, but keep in mind that the typical sugar cube contains about 1/2 teaspoon of sugar.
  5. Repeat until all of your sugar mixture is used.
  6. Finally, pop your homemade sugar cubes into the oven at 200 degrees F for 10 minutes to speed up the drying process. Once they've cooled they can be stored in an airtight container in the fridge until you're ready to drop them into your favorite drink or sneak as a sweet snack!

Tip^ You can also color your sugar cubes with 1 to 2 drops of food coloring or flavor your DIY sugar cubes with syrups; simply replace your water according to the amount of extra moisture you're adding in with the color or syrup.

Yields about 50 cubes, depending on your mold.
